Fundamental Duties of Indians as per Constitution of India.

Me at Indian Embassy to EU.

Year 2020 had a remarkable start for me with a memorable opportunity to visit the Indian Embassy to European Union for the celebration of India's 71st Republic Day.  The celebration began with Flag Hosting and proudly singing Indian Anthem followed by the Indian Ambassador addressing the gathering.

In this blog I want to share a very nice excerpt of the Indian Ambassador's Republic Day speech; the excerpt is specifically on Indian Citizens 11 fundamental Duties as enshrined in the Indian Constitution (Part IV-A, Article 51 A).

I confess like many Indians across universe, I was not aware of these 11 fundamental duties before listening to the Ambassador's speech, without wasting further time I briefly but meaningfully explain these duties.

1. Abide by the Constitution, National Flag & National Anthem.

2. Uphold the Sovereignty, Unity and Integrity of India.

3. Promote Harmony and Brotherhood.

Before we move to next duties its worthy to read the Quote on Constitution from current Indian Prime Minister.

"If Constitution, merely remains a document to be followed by the Government & Bureaucrats, then democracy will suffer, that's why it needs to reach the roots of every Indian." -Narendra Modi, Prime Minister, India.

Moving on to next Duties:

4. Protect and Improve Natural Environment.

5. Safeguard Public Property and Abjure violence.

6. Provide Opportunities for Education.

Over the past few months there has been enormous turmoil in India its sad to see the violent protest with so much of damage of public property. I want each one of us to be admired by the below Quote from Iron Man of India.

"Every Indian should now forget he is a Rajput,a Sikh or a Pakka Musalman. He must remember that he is an Indian and he has every right in his beloved country but with certain Duties."- Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel

In his quote, the Iron Man of India clearly mentions if an Indian wants to enjoy his/her Rights then he/she should be aware of his/her Duties as well.

7. Respect/Cherish the ideals of Freedom Struggles.

8. Defend the country and render the National Service.

9. Preserve Rich Heritage of composite culture of Diversified India.

In today's  fast paced Indian Life its very important that we also pay attention about the aspects which sets our country very unique in the world and we take highest care of the India's unique culture and history.

"Rights of citizens are Citizens' Duties well performed" - Mahatma Gandhi

10. Develop Scientific Temper, Humanism etc.

11. Strive for Excellence.

These are the 11 Fundamental Duties that every Indian should follow in his life. I have been to many countries across the world trust my words the best is India.

I wanted to write this blog on Jan 26 2020 but I missed it then I re-planned it on Jan 31, 2020 and again I missed it, however I finally wrote it, the message I want to share dear reader please let your desire to do something win over procrastination.

Wish you all Wonderful Year ahead.
Jai Hind !
